1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you sign up and use GetVerified, we collect:

  • Account Information: Name, phone number, email address, password
  • Search Preferences: Budget range, preferred areas in Lagos, transaction type (rent/buy/sell/land), timeline, number of bedrooms/bathrooms
  • Payment Information: We use Paystack for payment processing. We never store your credit card or debit card details on our servers
  • Communications: Messages you send to agents, ratings and reviews you submit, support inquiries

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use our platform, we automatically collect:

  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, device identifiers
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent on platform, features used, search queries, referral sources
  • Location Data: Approximate location based on IP address (we do not track precise GPS location unless you grant permission)
  • Cookies: See Section 6 for details on cookies and similar technologies

1.3 Information from Agents

Real estate agents who join GetVerified provide:

  • Identity Verification: Government-issued ID (National ID, International Passport, Driver's License), NIN, BVN
  • Business Information: Business registration documents (CAC), employer letter, office address
  • References: Contact information for at least 3 client references whom we may contact
  • Bank Details: Bank account information for identity verification (not for payment processing)
  • Professional Credentials: ESVARBON license if applicable

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide Our Service: Match you with verified agents, facilitate communication, process payments
  • Verification & Safety: Verify agent identities, detect and prevent fraud, maintain platform security
  • Improve Our Platform: Analyze usage patterns, identify bugs, develop new features
  • Communication: Send transactional emails, customer support responses, optional marketing (opt-out anytime)
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with Nigerian laws, respond to legal requests, enforce Terms & Conditions

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Agents

When we match you with an agent, we share:

  • Your name, phone number, email address, and property requirements

We do NOT share your payment information with agents

3.2 With Service Providers

We use third-party service providers who have access to your information:

Paystack
Payment processing (they handle all card transactions)
Termii/Twilio
SMS notifications to your phone
Cloud Hosting
Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud for data storage
Analytics
Google Analytics to understand platform usage

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.

3.3 What We Never Do

We never:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Share your information with advertisers
  • Use your information for purposes other than described in this policy without your explicit consent

4. Data Security

We take security seriously and implement industry-standard measures:

  • Encryption in transit (SSL/TLS) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers

For as long as your account is active
After Account Deletion
We delete most personal information within 90 days. Some information (anonymized transaction data, ratings) may be retained for analytical purposes
Legal Requirements
If required by law, we may retain certain information for up to 7 years for tax and auditing purposes
Agent Verification Data
We retain agent verification records for 5 years after an agent leaves the platform for quality assurance and potential legal disputes

  • Keep you logged in to your account
  • Remember your preferences and search settings
  • Understand how you use our platform (via Google Analytics)
  • Detect and prevent fraud

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Notify you via email if you have an active account
  • Post a notice on our platform
